External Review Board
To ensure that grants are awarded for projects with the greatest potential to transform academic discovery into commercial product, full proposals are reviewed and vetted through an External Review Board (ERB). The ERB is comprised of industry experts in the fields of therapeutics, devices, bio-technology, and other.
The ERB’s role is to recommend the proposals that will be submitted to the NIH’s Technical Review Committee (TRC). The TRC conducts their review and provides comment back to the Hubs where final funding awards are then determined.
ERB membership will vary slightly from cycle-to-cycle based on schedule and the type of proposals received. To the extent possible, members will serve for multiple review cycles to ensure stability and consistency in the review process.
